Think back to when you were a kid & pre-teen. What show(s) could you not miss?
For me it was The Muppet Show. If I didn't see my Muppets, I just wasn't right for the week. LOL
Keep in mind this was before the VCR, so if I wasn't near a TV 10 minutes before show time, I would act a plum fool. Don't mess with My Muppets! LOL
Scooby-Doo was another one of my favs. I loved trying to solve the mysteries.
Funny you bring up the muppets...
ReplyDeleteBack in 1981, The Muppet Show would air twice a day on the weekdays on the local CBS affiliate plus it would air daily on WGN on cable! I had a triple helping everyday. Afterwards (I'm a bit embarrassed to type this) Sha Na Na would come on and me and my sis would be in front of the TV.
Later on, the unedited, non-PC Sanford and Son would come on at 10:30 pm followed by The Benny Hill Show at eleven.
I watched Sha Na Na too! LOL
ReplyDeleteLet me say I hated Benny Hill (lol), but would sneak & watch "Prisoner: Cell Block H" (came on right before or after Benny).
We also loved the 3 Stooges but my granny refused to let us watch. She said we were already silly enough! LOL
Now that I'm a middle-aged man, I think I can appreciate Prisoner: Cell Block H now. Hee hee...
ReplyDeleteThe Three Stooges were hilarious, but I used to get mad at Moe; who did he think he was???
How about The ABC After School Special? One that really sticks out was the one where they depicted live childbirth *lrrrrrg*
I just had to see the cosby show and all the other Thursday night NBC shows. I also loved "Who's the Boss". I wanted to be Samantha so bad.
ReplyDeleteI was a Muppet fan too! It would come on about 6am in Chicago on weekdays, and you know that's dedication being a kid to wake up THAT early for anything! Right after, the Bozo Show would come on. I loved me some Bozo, Whizzo, Cookie, Cuddly Duddly, and the gang...and can't forget Bozo buckets. I used to PRAY to be on the Bozo Show to compete for that brand new 50 DOLLAR BILL...OOOHHH! LOL! Moni, you bringing back some memories girl!
ReplyDeleteThose shows to me represented simpler times. Nowadays kids tv is just a load of crap!
I loved Jem & the Holograms too! ♫ *Jem is my name no one else is the same, Jem is my NAME...JEM!!!*♫
Dark Shadows(the only soap opera I ever liked), Soul Train, Prisoner Cell Block H(would go to bed late on school nights to watch this!)The Night Stalker, Creature Feature, Good Times and All & The Family, Sandford & Son, Twilight Zone and The Honey Mooners(will still watch the marathons on New Years Day)As for cartoons....looney tunes, Speed Racer, Flintstones, TopCat(really showing my age....hell I'm bout to be 47 on sunday!)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember as a kid. As a teenager, it was Fresh Prince, One Our Own, Me and the Boys
ReplyDeleteI use to love watching blossom, and a different world!
