Girl look, back in '91, I had my very 1st living room suite on layaway so long that when I finally paid it off it was discountinued and I had to choose another style. *lol*
OoOOH wee! LOL I dressed my child in her infancy from Value City Dept. Store...and bought it all on layaway... during those BIG growth spurts she'd get too big for stuff before I even got it out.
makes sense for the time we are going thru with the economy...but some places just started advertising. a month is hardly enough for someone like me to lay something away. i need at least a half a year so i only have to put $25 on it a month! *lol*
I won't tell y'all that a lot of places that sell used bikes on the East Coast have what's called "winter layaway"... they tell you how much you need to pay monthly and the terms of the layaway and bam, when you're done you got yourself a bike!
(this is great for me because I refuse to finance two vehicles at one time)
YANNO, i work for tj maxx and when we rolled out our credit card, the original intent was to do away with lay-a-way.
as a sales associate, it is a pain in the ass...
especially those mofo-ing customers who try to find out if any of that mess is on clearance....
cuz technically,we are not suppose to give the current markdown price if it goes clearance while on layaway....
and then there is that one, who is gonna act a plum fool and do that pay for it all (so as to not pay the cancellation fee) and return it all and buy it all back at the markdown price....
*sighsssss*
and lets not talk about i work in a downtown store....
in which at noon somebody stood outside in the middle of downtown and rings the bell....
and everybody comes in there all at once, thinking they are going to make it through the lay-a-way line in 10 minutes....
because everybody in line, has 3 or 4 $500 layaways, and they gotta look at each on of them and have me delete shit until the layaway is down to 60 bucks and then they are ready to pay....
all the while, the people behind them are getting pissed like a muggg....
looking at us like we could possibly move faster with these multiple layway having customers and we have 4 registers going just for layaway...
and then they get their mangy asses up there and do the same shit.
I used to buy everything on layaway too... *smile*

When I moved out of my parents house my whole apartment was furnished using layaway (dishes too)
ReplyDeleteLAY-A-WAY....there are only two major chains here that offer this precious commodity! LOL
ReplyDeleteK-Mart & Marshall's....times are hard right now and I am glad someone is willing to let US lay-a-way and pay a little at a time.
I love lay-a-way! right now... its the ONLY way... cuz I aint tryna jack up those cards again...
