I just exchanged a few text messages with a friend & now I'm wondering how many others are in the same boat - no raises, bonuses, perk(s) elimination, etc., due to the current economic situation we're in.
PS I'll still get my assist manager's bonus & I'm still on the payroll and for that, I'm thankful!
My mom travels for work. They used to give her a car, and a gas card and pay all the insurance and repairs etc. Then they took away the car. Then the gas card, now they dropped the insurance and repairs... Finally, the last insult, they take 800 miles a month off the mileage they claim and will not reimburse on a car that has over 125000 miles on it... even though the job is what puts the miles on. Punks. But she is, as you, thankful for her job.
ReplyDeleteI'm just happy to have the piece of a job I do have.
ReplyDeleteWith my job, no word on raises, but my insurance rates increased and so is my parking.
ReplyDeletegirl... our folks took care of us this year in spite of the fact that our partnership dissolved to a certain extent. I am so thankful to still have TWO jobs to GO TO...
ReplyDeletePREACH!
ReplyDeleteI'm driving that WEEKLY. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteHappy to have a job. We were told that a couple of months ago. The teachers here were just told the same. Georgia power cutting jobs...everybody cutting. Please let me have favor and keep my job
ReplyDeleteIt's times like these that I am grateful for my "good gub-mint" job.
ReplyDeleteWe are having our share of budget woes as well (continuing resolutions for all annual budgets until new President signs new budget even though the year started back on 10/1/2008). Because of this, we cannot hire, travel, or train. Our agency also deferred our Performance Bonuses until March 2009 (normally they come 3 weeks before Christmas, you KNOW that was a hot mess!)
But within-grade increases and career-ladder promotions are still being enacted, and the Congressional Cost-of-Living increases are still going through. The within-grade and the COLA essentially gave me a $8000 raise this year.
I am praising God daily for my good fortune, and paying it forward by working actively to help friends and loved ones become competitive for and get federal jobs during this season of stability-seeking.
www.usajobs.opm.gov Give it a look-see!
hell pay raises....LOL....we actually have PAY CUTS through furlough days and NEXT year is suppose to be worse so some might get axed for sure.
ReplyDeleteWell, I work for the state of NC and I seriously doubt there will be any raises in September like usual. When that happens, what they usually do is give us 2 weeks bonus leave hours as compensation. Assuming they don't give raises, I hope they do that. I could use the money more, but with bonus leave, I'd be able to take an extra trip to see my folks or a couple of mini trips.
ReplyDeleteWell damn....
ReplyDeleteOff topic - I bought my hooptie brand new back in '03 and Bootsey only has 40,900 miles on her! *snicker*
Amen to that!
ReplyDeleteWell. on Saturday, I found out that my site leader resigned...floored us all! Then on monday, threy offiially announced his resignation that morning...then that afternoon, told us that there will be no raises this year except for the raise for moving to differnt stages on my job....then on tuesday, they told us that they were cutting overtime until further notice...No saturday work....no holiday time 1/2...then I hear today that my job needs more money in the bank bailout...I am happy that I have a job....(I am late for right now because I think my son is trying to cut school)...But this needing more money from the bailout, but them telling me something else....too much....I need my upcoming 3 day weekend....
ReplyDeleteTammy Thank God Thank God...I'm telling you Thank Him. They send folks home early everyday on this job and I'm so grateful. Now for baby boy kick his tail!
ReplyDeleteFYI Effective January 1, 2009 the IRS LOWERED the standard mileage rate to .55 cents per mile.
ReplyDeleteFor those who travel...
