Tell us about your best & worst Mother's Day.
The Best - My son (about age 5 at the time) brought home a card he made at school. I swear to you that card looked as if it had been stepped on, chewed on & cried on, but he gave it to me as if it were the Hope Diamond. I'm sure the poor card struggled from school on Friday to giving it to me that Sunday. My Mother's Day breakfast consisted of 2 cold hot dogs & a bowl of Trix...oh & some dandelions he picked from the yard (lol). I ate my breakfast it like it came from a 4 star establishment & displayed my dandelions on the etagere because my baby did it all by himself. A day I'll never, ever forget.
The Worst - Mother's Day 1999 - the 1st without my mother. No one to buy a card & gifts for & no one to call. The absolute worst.
My best Mother's Day.........Was the year my daughter took me to brunch, spoiled me with flowers and gifts and cooked dinner.
ReplyDeleteMy Worst Mother's Day......1990, the first Mother's Day without my momma. I took my first trip to the cemetary in NJ(Rosehill)left my roses on the bus!! found another florist and brought new flowers, Went to her grave cried my eyes out and when Sam and I took the bus back to NY lo and behold were my flowers on the seat........mind you this bus had been back and forth to NYC 2 times according to the driver.....my flowers were in the overhead, but here they were in the same seat I rode to NJ in. According to my then 6 year old daughter....."Grandma wanted you to have flowers on Mother's Day to know that she is alright" well I bawled like a baby...and thought maybe she is right.
*Boo-hooing*
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have actually had my BEST Mother's Day yet. The event to come close to what could be called a "best Mother's Day" was actually last Father's day. My baby brought home a father's day card he made for me at school. That was a very special moment for me.
ReplyDeleteThe worst was of course the Mother's Day after my mother passed. Her birthday was April 14th, she died on April 17th and mother's day was just a few weeks away. I had already gotten her a mother's day gift. I ended up keeping it as a memory of her.
I don't think I've had one yet either like Kim....as you know I am in you guy's club......so my worst was Mother's Day 1999. My mother had just left me March 13, 1999....and you all know the details..we don't need to cry about that.
