My "Dream" Wedding

Every so often, like last night, I have this recurring dream about my wedding. Keep in mind, even tho I've been proposed to on a few occasions, I've never been married. The dream is always the same & the only thing that changes are the children, who obviously grow up. I can even see Mama & Muda sitting on the front row, but now they have this almost angelic glow.

The dream always starts with me & my friends in the basement of my church getting dressed, hair, make-up, etc. There's a lot of laughter & even more tears.

We go thru the motions & when the time comes for me to make my grand entrance (on my son's arm), I recognize everyone on my (the bride's) side of the church, but no one on the groom's side. As I make my way down the aisle {fabulous as I wanna be}, one (1) of the bridesmaids is unfamiliar to me & all of the groomsmen are strangers. I make it to the altar & when I look up to gaze into my beloved's eyes, his face is pixelated!!! I've been having this same dream since I was 18/19 years old & my beloved's face has always been pixelated. To make matters worse, when the Rev. is about to say his name, I wake up!! It never fails.

I've been trying for the last 15+ years to figure this out & I can't. I did however, come to the conclusion that this dream might be a subconscious reminder that one day true love & happiness will come my way, I just don't know it yet.

Will You Marry Me?

It's damn near 5 am and I'm sitting here watching an Essence documentary on innovative African-American marriage proposals on TV1.

I'm not ashamed to say I'm sitting here boo-hooing right along with the bride-to-be & most of the other ladies. The gents are manning up & holding back the tears.

Black Love IS alive and kicking!! My faith has once again been restored. ...y'all know I tend to lose it every now & again.

A White Folks Wedding

Yesterday, I attended my 1st white folks wedding.  One of my best work friends got married & I was there to witness.

The bride & groom are both 47 years old.  She was absolutely radiant.  He was looking pretty dapper himself.  Neither one has children. This is hubby #3 for her & wifey #2 for him.

It was a garden ceremony & despite the less than favorable temp (about 55 degrees) & my 3.5 inch heels sinking into the ground (it rained the night before), it was a lovely event.

Once the booze started flowing, it was on!  I get a kick outta watching white folks getting their drink on then trying to dance....hilarious!

My faith in finding & marrying my one true love has once again been restored.  Ya'll know I tend to lose it every so often.

Congrats to Mr. & Mrs. Key!

PS When (notice how I've gone from if to when?) I do marry, I'll give you all plenty of notice to save your nickels & dimes for my destination wedding!

I've Changed My Mind - I Do Want a Wedding!

Betty Wright said, "It's a womans preogative to change her mind."

Not that there are any prospects on the horizon, but still.  I have long given up on the whole Cinderella deal, but I haven't given up that my on true love is still out there, somewhere.

As I was watching The Best of Soul Train, The Whispers sang one of my favorite wedding songs - I'm Gonna Make You My Wife.  I want him (whomever he might be) to sing or lip-sync this tune {minus the verse about having babies} as I make my way down the aisle.  Damn a courthouse.  I want what I want.

I found the song set to this movie clip on youtube & even tho I never saw the movie, this got me all teary-eyed. (Maybe I'm PMSing or something.)

For those who did have a wedding, what song did you/your bride enter on?

For those like me, what song(s) have you decided upon or have to choose from?

Yeah, I'm in a sappy kinda mood today.  It beats the hell outta the bitchy one, so just roll with me.
