Since the office is closed on Friday (and I'm taking off Thursday as well), I decided we need a red, white & blue casual dress week! What's the point in having this fancy title they gave me it I can't use it for anything but business cards? Not to mention I can get dressed in 5-10 minutes flat on casual day.
It's the little things that can change one's attittude toward the workday.
What has little thing(s) has your employee done lately, that people really appreciate?
We get a lot of "casual" days because we have alot of FUNDRAISERS here! If you donate money, you can consider it a JEANS DAY!!! My company also has SUNDAE BARS and they grill outside on THRUSDAYS when it's nice outside. They do alot of things to make their employees happy.
ReplyDeleteWe used to do stuff like that... But, at our place everyday is kind of "casual" day... We don't have to do business attire so much... Now, we don't do the cool little things any more.
ReplyDeleteGirl.. everyday is a casual day for me... lol... Now if they said lets do "Dress up day" I might have a real hard time complying with that... But, I guess the stuff we do here is (during the summer months) each manager is responsible for hosting a bbq lunch for the month.. It started in May of this year... and luckily I missed it because of my vacation.. (dont think i would have liked that person's cooking).. For June, it was my month (me and my department), but thankfully we had to cancel that because of the White Sox game.. I had more fun there.. And we have another scheduled for july in 2 weeks.. Its supposed to bring us closer together or at least get on a more social level... But, I like the beer Fridays... The Man, will let us have beers or wine or what ever your choice of beverage is, maybe an hour or 2 earlier than closing... Its kinda cool, cuz we do socialize a lil bit.. Some will take their one or two or three bottles of beer to their desk and have their own private party... but for the most part, we kinda stop work and just chill... Other than that, I prefer to stay in my own lil respective area without all the conversation I get from these people so that I can do my "Work". lol
ReplyDeleteI am seriously thankful I can come to work with my shorts and t's on... cuz if I had to wear a skirt everyday... best believe somebody would be pissed of every dang on day... lol
I am 100000% with you on the casual dress days! We too received a casual week this week. However, my boss at my PT job is looking at me sideways (LOL). I forgot to run it by her. She wouldn't care, but I should have asked first.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing is we just met w/Human Capital last week and she was asking what our employees appeciated and what we liked about our jobs. I was the first to say JEANS DAYS!! LOL
My office is pretty laid back in general, but gets even more relaxed on Fridays. Most folks wear some form of denim and the ties come off and shirts are unbuttoned.
ReplyDeleteAs for entertainment, every Tuesday between the end of May and the middle of November, we have a Farmer's Market outside in our Courtyard. Produce growers come from all over (mainly PA) and hawk their wares. In addition to the fresh produce, there's usually several different vendors cooking up everything from Carribean favorites to soul food. And don't forget the Italian Ice stand. Yum!
On Wednesdays during the same time period, we have the Summer Concert Series. Any and every kind of music you could think of, we're blessed with it. Bands, solo artists, choirs...everybody and everything. LOL
I love music, so I get into all of it. I even enjoyed the dude who was rapping and playing the accordian and sax in his act. LMAO!
We've had employee fashion & talent shows, barbecues, breakfasts and other events. There are quite a few additional events the hospital coordinates (baseball, softball games, relay races, etc. but they are for charitable reasons for the most part). Wish we did have some casual dress days. Fridays around here people tend to wear jeans and other casual fare but it all depends on your supervisor...My department is not allowed to wear jeans.
ReplyDeleteEvery day is an uniform day for us...Police departments have no casual day..*sighs*. Only out of uniforms for holiday parties and special dinners and functions...
ReplyDeleteSometime I wish we were in uniform....preferably Scrubs! :P
ReplyDeleteIt was nice to come back from my vacation to summer hours. We get off a half hour earlier than normal. It's not much, but it does help getting home before rush hour. Plus I get to have dinner at a decent time.
