Ok I think he may have researched it a little bit more because she does look rather young, however I don't think prison time was the right form of penalty for neither of the young men. This as the article says does nothing to that young fast tail girl and just let's her think that she can get off every time she does this. Not to mention why aren't her parents monitoring her internet use at that rate. I mean I have had to snitch on plenty of my young cousins to keep them out of harms way because i know what some sights are all about and they are not for kids.

Again this is coming from a former teen who (before the WWW) perfected the art of lying and passing for an age older than what I was. Even when my mother would catch me, she knew it was me who was lying and just let the guys know the truth - without incident.
I can vividly remember anytime the phone rang for me & the voice was unfamiliar to my mama, she'd asked questions about where we met, what I was wearing, their age, etc, & closing with "How old did this heffa tell you she was?" They'd give her the age I gave and she'd replied with, "My daughter is only 13/14 (or whatever it was)". They guys apologized and she told them it wasn't necessary because it was me who lied to them.
I agree with amour, the guy shouldn't be completely off the hook, he should have done a bit more checking first, especially since she claimed to have JUST turned 18, that should have tipped him off, demand to see her birth certificate or something LOL

I did this a lot too Moni but was too scared to give out my number to them I always took there's. Not to mention they weren't that much older than myself but they could have went to jail. I found out the hard way that you can get into a world of trouble messing around with older men when i was assaulted at the age of 15. This is symptomatic of a deeper problem, not just between the genders but between the races and how that feeds this “justice” system that is building the Prison Industrial Complex.
Look at our beloved 13th Amendment. Section 1 states in it’s entirety ~ “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”
The amendment nor the section go on to further clarify what “the crime” must be. The fastest growing population in the prison population, quiet as it’s kept, is NOT black men, it’s BLACK WOMEN!
So when I see reports of things like this, where we are sending our OWN to prison, a black man holding another black man (however young) criminally responsible for his own child’s clearly reprehensible and untoward behavior, I just shake my head and realize that we are GIVING folks the ammunition to shoot us with!
There are so many WHYs in this case:
1. Why does a 13year old have a MySpace account, you are supposed to be 14 to have an account! 2. Why are 20-something young black males searching the internet for sexual partners?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. SEX, and what we will risk/do/pay to get it, is going to be the downfall of our community. It’s just tragic that 2 young black men, NOT YET IN JAIL, will end up with limited future opportunities all because they felt they needed to have SEX! YES, she lied, YES, she misled, YES the Daddy went too far by calling the police, but the question always remains ~ Who made the FIRST WRONG CHOICE? When it’s YOUR ASS on the line, every choice you MAKE should be one that PROTECTS THAT ASS, not one that puts it at risk!
Who is teaching our young men that once they pull out their penis, what happens from THAT POINT ON is TOTALLY IN THE HANDS OF THE WOMAN THEY STICK IT INTO? She could cry RAPE, she could be lying about her AGE, she could be trying to get PREGNANT, she could have an STD that a SHOT WON’T CURE!!! As much as we would like we cannot supervise these kids 24/7. We have to trust they will take heed. They will sometimes disappoint us. Lord knows I gave my caregivers the blues because I was so boy crazy.
This kids have instant every damn thing. They probably don't even know how to make friends at the park or at the mall like we did. What makes matters worse is that the some parents are so far behind in the technological advance, it's easy for the kids to hide their activity...until it's too late.
I, for one, am glad the only thing I walked away with due to my carelessness was a baby. The sentence could've been far worse.

Aren't there laws of entrapment though? Would that be considered an actual case? I'm serious about this and having charges being pressed on the young lady.
I can't reiterate enough that they are absent from her life practically and not to mention but this has got to be the worst case of child neglect I have ever seen. I mean and open child neglect to allow a 13 yr old child to make her own decisions, come and go as she pleases and allow her to get away with openly inviting and having sex with over aged young men.
I meant to come back to this. He shouldn't have to serve time. I mean really, what kind of prosecutors had him charged? This is symptomatic of a deeper problem, not just between the genders but between the races and how that feeds this “justice” system that is building the Prison Industrial Complex.
ReplyDeleteLook at our beloved 13th Amendment. Section 1 states in it’s entirety ~ “Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.”
The amendment nor the section go on to further clarify what “the crime” must be. The fastest growing population in the prison population, quiet as it’s kept, is NOT black men, it’s BLACK WOMEN!
So when I see reports of things like this, where we are sending our OWN to prison, a black man holding another black man (however young) criminally responsible for his own child’s clearly reprehensible and untoward behavior, I just shake my head and realize that we are GIVING folks the ammunition to shoot us with!
There are so many WHYs in this case:
1. Why does a 13year old have a MySpace account, you are supposed to be 14 to have an account!
2. Why are 20-something young black males searching the internet for sexual partners?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. SEX, and what we will risk/do/pay to get it, is going to be the downfall of our community. It’s just tragic that 2 young black men, NOT YET IN JAIL, will end up with limited future opportunities all because they felt they needed to have SEX! YES, she lied, YES, she misled, YES the Daddy went too far by calling the police, but the question always remains ~ Who made the FIRST WRONG CHOICE? When it’s YOUR ASS on the line, every choice you MAKE should be one that PROTECTS THAT ASS, not one that puts it at risk!
Who is teaching our young men that once they pull out their penis, what happens from THAT POINT ON is TOTALLY IN THE HANDS OF THE WOMAN THEY STICK IT INTO? She could cry RAPE, she could be lying about her AGE, she could be trying to get PREGNANT, she could have an STD that a SHOT WON’T CURE!!! So for 50 humps & a grunt, you could end up in jail, marked a sex offender for the REST OF YOUR LIFE, father to an unwanted child, and/or diseased!!! To the men on this board who’ve had sex, toe-curling or otherwise, is it really WORTH ALL THAT?
And if so, help me understand WHY?
I’m sorry, shit like this just makes me MAD! I endure lonely nights, I buy expensive toys to take the edge off…I do what I have to…SHORT of involving another person in my drama because it’s simply NOT WORTH it to me to shortchange myself or someone ELSE in search of an orgasm!
What is it about sex that we are willing to risk EVERYTHING?
This is the very reason why I gave my son the cold hard facts about sex. None of that beating around the bush shit that was told to me.
ReplyDeleteAs much as we would like we cannot supervise these kids 24/7. We have to trust they will take heed. They will sometimes disappoint us. Lord knows I gave my caregivers the blues because I was so boy crazy.
This kids have instant every damn thing. They probably don't even know how to make friends at the park or at the mall like we did. What makes matters worse is that the some parents are so far behind in the technological advance, it's easy for the kids to hide their activity...until it's too late.
I, for one, am glad the only thing I walked away with due to my carelessness was a baby. The sentence could've been far worse.

ReplyDeleteI can't reiterate enough that they are absent from her life practically and not to mention but this has got to be the worst case of child neglect I have ever seen. I mean and open child neglect to allow a 13 yr old child to make her own decisions, come and go as she pleases and allow her to get away with openly inviting and having sex with over aged young men.

My thing is if he did the honorable thing and went to the girls father, how the hell did he get charged? The biggest and most dangerous thing about this is not that she's meeting them but that some are not just trying to meet but do even more harmful things than just meet. This could end up so much worse and they seriously need to watch this because she is really pushing the envelop here.
I totally understand what you are saying but i still think the punishment is still a bit harsh especially knowing that he was not aware of the young ladies deception and when found out he went straight to her parents (father). Yes he should have , could have, but he didn't and i'm pretty sure he's not the only one that doesn't go around doing full on investigations on one night stands. First off, its bad and we all know it that he slept with her being that she was a minor... But did he not do the right thing by going to the girls father to explain and be honest about his dealings... And then two.. if daddy knows that baby girl has done this before,,, how much harsh weight should be imposed on this young man... And then.. she still staying out late and hasnt fixed or taken down that page... Where is the fucking PARENTING at... Do they not think she needs some help... My 14 year old niece is on myspace and I really on keep my acct to watch over here and my nephew... I saw her use the N word once in her tag and I think I was all over her like white on rice...
