I also like Showtime's Dexter, but it's now airing (edited of course) on CBS.
I'll definitely keep my extended basic channels & shows like Top Chef, Boondocks, Project Runway, How Clean is Your House, Run's House, Snoop Dogg's Fatherhood, my HGTV shows, Food Network, TV1, Forensic Files, First 48, Chill Channel, etc.

LOL @ Mike. I haven't had the premium channels for about five years now. Will you miss them? It just depends on what you like to watch. I cancelled right after Sex & the City went off the air. Could I have done that BEFORE the show ended...no.

ReplyDeleteI'm a SITC fan too. I kept HBO for Oz, Sopranos & The Wire. Nothing else has caught me eye, so I think I'm gonna cancel & just do pay-per-view if necessary.
ReplyDeleteWell....as you know. I don't have cable period. Haven't had it since a verbal scrimmage with a rude cable service customer service rep about 6 years ago. I'm a stubborn somebody and when I said "CUT IT OFF!" I meant it. And haven't missed it. I'll probably get some basic channels before the year is out due to the whole going digital thingamajig and to let the boy be able to watch the cartoon and Disney channels. He asked for a new TV but that ain't happening. He will have to be happy with some cable.

ReplyDeleteRight now I have Cablevision and I have the DVR....I love being able to fly thru commercials. Right now they gave me a year of EVERY Premium movie channel, 2 DVRS & internet and phone for 147 per month. So I'm getting a pretty good deal. I watch The L Word and I might start checking out the Tudors. I LOVE DEXTER!! The Serial Killer with a conscience lol. I do watch Big Love so I'm waiting for the new season to start. HBO kills me, they fucked up Carnivale,The Sopranos, Rome now The Wire is biting the bullet.....Damn!

Naw... Nip/Tuck is the only show that I follow during it's original airtime. I don't follow any shows on Premium channels. Everything else that I watch I follow via DVD. I should get a DVR too... but I don't want to add any other services to my bill right now. I'm getting Verizon FiOS as soon as it's available in my area... which according to them, should be very soon.

ReplyDeleteI think I'm ready to let loose of the slavemaster that is my DVR...I got mad sticker shock since our bundle contract just ended with Comcast. We are now paying 180/mo for BASIC enhanced cable and this is without premium channels. I have never had a reason to subscribe to paid channels because we own a close to a thousand dvds...maybe even more. I only have cable now to watch certain VH1 and Mtv shows, as well as my new addiction, project runway. I'm going to cancel cable, and tell them to come get their equipment unless they can give me a better deal. The kids will probably cry because they love their Nick and Cartoon network shows. They have to say buh-bye to hannah, drake & josh, and spongebob!!! LOL
