Mothers/Fathers: Where Did Your/Her Water Break?

Where did your water break?

Simple question, but feel free to share the details of your experience.

I truly believe my son was lazy from conception.  I went into labor at about 830 am, he was born at 430 pm & never broke the sac.  They were wanting it to break naturally, but the boy child didn't see it that way.

Honestly, I'm just glad it didn't break on the metro bus or in the mall.

I should be working but oh well...they'll get it outta me one way or the other.

  1. see, thats my fear - my water breaking while I'm on the train or at my office...

I'll keep peeking in to see what these results are!

  2. Three children...all cesarean sections. No breakage here.

    ReplyDelete
  3. My water never broke. I never had a contraction. Never dialated...nothing. All the boy did was turn. I had a C-section.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Looking at your last pause/flash efforts made me think of this. :o)

  5. lmao. STO called me a camera slut. I SO am...even more than usual. The pregnant body AMAZES me.

but I digress...I think I might just walk around with a Depends on for the last 6 weeks. That hsould take care of that worry. *lol*

  10. *ducking the inevitable lightening bolt!*

  11. Labor was induced and carried on for 48 hours. They had to break my water.

    ReplyDelete
  12. With my first son my water never broke, they actually had to break it after a few hours at the hospital. That labor was the closet thing to a painful death a person could experience

With my youngest son my water broke at home and would you believe his father didnt take this as anything serious and went back to sleep. Needless to say we arrived at the hospital at 4:45 am and he was born 5:46 am

    ReplyDelete
  13. Be careful,,, I bet you got some metal objects on your desk right now... lol

    ReplyDelete
  14. Thankfully, my water broke at the hospital with all three of my babies. It's a good thing, too, because once it broke they took no time getting here.

    Oldest: 22 minutes
    Middle: 20 minutes
    Youngest: 8 minutes

    Child please, I'on play!

    *grin*

  15. That was my fear with my first one, too. So, I went out and bought a pack of Depends. My daughter was born the next morning. Never even opened the frikk'n things! *sigh*

  16. Not naw, hell naw! LOL One of my cyberpals - Starrdustt - is having a baby in May.

This baby making facility went outta business a long time ago.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ok... my question... since we talking about water breakage... what does that feel like... does it hurt or what...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Dang, I need to read ALL the comments before I comment, huh? LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  19. lmaooooo

I can almost hear the stuttering in your voice... it went and octive or two higher... lmaoooo hell to the nawwwwww... lmao

  20. No pain at all. If memory serves me correctly it felt like a gush of warm urine that I couldn't control. Being I was a teenager when all this went down, I think I blocked most of the experience from my memory.

    ReplyDelete
  21. But Hunnieeeeee!!! After that gush, the contractions kick in overdrive! Lawd hammercy!

*gripping the desk and cringing at the memories*

    ReplyDelete
  22. "...That labor was the closet thing to a painful death a person could experience..."

    oh sweet geebuz!! *feels woozy*

    ReplyDelete
  23. *patting the back of your hand gently*

It's ok, Boo Boo. It's just the truth.

  24. Awwww fuck it... fuck child birth... fuck fucking for that matter... I can't do it... I am petrified at the thought of childbirth... I got to sit in on Miya's birth last july ... you know, the lil baby I plaster everywhere cuz she sooooo freaking cute... anyway... I saw everything... I mean more than daddy saw of his own baby coming out... at a few times I felt like I threw up a lil bit in my mouth... But I held it together... but I think i should have got up to leave after Miya was out and the cord was cut... But nooooo... My science TV watching ass wanted to stay and watch the stitch up... thats when I really got wooosey... Cuz I could see this needle and umm ummmm Im getting sick right now... I'll be back yall...

  25. Eyes bugged out and everything!!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Lots and lots, and LOTS of drugs were used in the arrival of my kids. I almost kissed the anesthesiologist!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ohhhhhhh Starr this is your first child?

    ReplyDelete
  28. My sister wanted drugs, but she was too late. She damn near sent her then boyfriend to find the corner boy for something anything!!!! When my mother called she heard my sister crying, and moaning in pain, and promptly hung up the phone. She could not deal. LOL

She had my niece and was on the phone like nothing happened. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  29. Nawwww... you mofos's gotta go all natural......forget the pain killers... were yall taking pain killers when you were doing the up and down dance...

    ReplyDelete
  30. My anethesiologist was a little Indian dude with hair growing outta his erry'thang! I swear you could braid the hair growing out of his ears.

Nah, you would'na been high enough to kiss him.

    *LMAO*

    ReplyDelete
  31. You betta say it!! When those pains came hard & fast I said "Lord, if you want me, take me now!"

I didn't have these wonderful narcotics the others speak of. I think (at least back then) they didn't give teen mothers drugs as deterrent. It sho nuff worked for me!

I can't think of anyone who was under 18 who had drugs (back then) unless there was a complication.

    ReplyDelete
  32. CTFU!!!!!! If yo azz don't have a way with words, I swear!!!

I didn't have drugs...I felt every contraction, every sharp pain, every rip and tear in my precious vagikitty, everything.

    Umma SOULJUH!!!

*feeling lightheaded, resting my head on my desk*

    ReplyDelete
  33. I did dammit! I'm a soul-ja! *The reason the boy has no maternal siblings.*

    ReplyDelete
  34. You pretty much said

I AIN'T DOING THIS NO MO!!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  35. You be killing me with the vagicat stuff!!! LMAO!!!

Girl, please...my husband teases me because I was so doped up anyone could have been down there in my neather-regions and I hadn't the foggiest clue! I mean, I didn't feel shit..literally!

I had an urge to push, but unfortunately something else entirely came out....lol....TMI, but that's real ya'll. Get ready Stardustt to have all your dignity stripped away during labor and delivery!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Yeah ummm hmmmm all women talk about going natural and when that pain hit it's

    GET ME DRUGS NOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW

    ReplyDelete
  37. Puh leeeeeeezzzz I let my OB know that pain relief was definitely a part of my birth plan. Fuckwatchaheard!!!!! No lawdy...didn't want to feel nuffin at all. Don't get me wrong though, when the contractions got closer together, the pain relief totally wore off!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Some actress talked about that. Jenny McCarthy wrote a book on her experience, and she talked about that!! LOL She devoted a whole chapter to that.

"Women talk about how beautiful child birth is. What's so beautiful about pushing, and boo booing on the table!!!!"

ROFL something along those lines. I swear I read that booked and HOWLED.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Mine broke while I was sleeping and I woke up thinking I had wet the bed, (LOL) but it didn't smell like pee and then afterwards was when it hit....A girl had started to go into labor...it wasn't major major pains though but I knew what was happening after that. Cute question...LOL

    How are you?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Don't feel bad. With my middle baby, I pissed all over the doctor. In her hair and err'thang.

Shoot, they know these things happen. That's why they're dressed as if they're going into nuclear warfare!

    ReplyDelete
  41. ..oh and I had natural birth with both my children...no drugs, well the first time they put something in my IV that did NOTHING.

with natural labor I just knew I going to meet my maker...honestly he coulda came and got me any minute and i would have been thankful. lol

    ReplyDelete
  42. Here is how Bill Cosby talks about Natural Childbirth. LOL

  50. LOL @ U red...you were supposed to bow out this convo 39 replies ago!!!

You know what else is humiliating? Those damn doctor interns!!!! Why da hell I need a frigging audience to have my baby. Added to all those folks, my mom was there, sister, friends, folks from the church. Damn, can a girl's cooch remain sacred......sheesh.

Starr ~ I hope you're not having the bambino in a teaching hospital.

    ReplyDelete
  51. lmaooooooooo I know... but I cant seem to hit the damn button.... lmao

    ReplyDelete
  52. I read the jenny mccarthy book and it was probably some of the funniest crap I ever read! and she kept it REAL! I did a blog on the "Blue Twinkies" chapter. *ctfu* she said her cooch lips were SO on swole that they looked like "two blue twinkies snuggling under some carpet" *dead*

    ReplyDelete
  53. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See Starr?? Red is nassy too! It ain't jess me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. LOL I guess after a while you did not care. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  55. Or at least leave a damn donation at the door for the show... lmao

    ReplyDelete
  56. *tears rolling down my face*
    Yes, yes, yes!!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  57. Im not nassy... Im just gearing up for the last sexual experience of my life... Cuz I dont do birth control pills and although he and I are exclusive to each other right now...we still wear condoms... well if the urge dont over take us... But I'll be damned if some big headed kid is coming out of my small sacred area,,,, Yeah I know the whole bit about your body makes a proper canal for the future born bad ass... but still... Nope.. So me and mofo gone rock some sheets tonight for the last time... Im gonna tell his ass that too... just to see the expression on his face... lmaoooo

    ReplyDelete
  58. With all dem damn drugs in my system, you know that's right!! I could barely make out folks' faces..everyone looked like general shapes. LMBO

    ReplyDelete
  59. Hell,,, I did that 54 stint at the beginning of the year... (no sex.. of any kind)... He held it together but it was hard as hell... (absolutely no pun intended)... lmao

    ReplyDelete
  60. no teaching hospital...and a very "hostile" Birthplan. *lol* no interns, unecessary staff. just the husband and auntie (b/c I alreayd know ima have to have one removed from the room after all is said & done *lol*) and FiGi's Godmomma is on picture/video duty. and YES, I wanna see what happened during my out of body experience. *lol*

    ReplyDelete
  61. My water had to be broken both times. It doesn't necessarily kick start your contractions, depends on the baby.

I had to have pitocin to jump start my contractions both times and because I had big babies, the first one was a forcep baby. Yes, they had to pull his azz out with salad tongs. Still gotta put fire under him to get him going.

Second one was induced and he refused to come out. after 23 hours, they finally decided on a c-section and I cried. His father was with me all the way and when they plopped his big butt on the scale I thanked the Lord for surgeons. 9 lbs. 4 oz.!

    ReplyDelete
  62. What is an acceptable birthing size... do you want a 5 pounder or 6 pounder or is 9 pounds just not coming out of the....well you know...

    ReplyDelete
  63. My water broke while I was in the hospital and a half hour later the labor pains kicked in over-drive!!! She was stubborn and didn't want to come out. But about 2 hours later, I finally had her. To this day, 16 years later this girl can still be stubborn when she wants to be!!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. I remember your blog & LMAO every damn time I see a pack of Twinkies!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. You "accommodate" most of the time. My issue was my child wasn't thinking about being born and once the water was broken, they have only limited amount of time before it becomes necessary to birth the baby.

My babydaddy was a 10 lb. baby and his mama was (and heffa still is) under 150.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Lemme tell y'all - I knew I had to poop & I was begging them to let me go to bathroom & they bring me a bedpan. My mama was trying make me use it, but I insisted on going to the bathroom. Needless to say I stayed strapped to the bed & had to go in the pan.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Girl bye! Thanks to his bio he has about 5-6 siblings. Thanks to my sister he has 5 cousins. If that ain't enough, sorry for him!

    ReplyDelete
  68. That's what you get for getting in grown folx bizness! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  69. What is it about pregnancy that causes women to gush (ummm bad pun..sorry) when we recount our tales? I have 2 co-workers who are preggers and everytime some woman passes them in the hall, they start telling ALL their damn bizness about how long labor was, all the pain, the horror stories, etc....

    ReplyDelete
  70. I was 9 lbs 1 oz; my middle sister was 9 lbs 10.5 oz (or it could be the other way around); my baby sister was 11 lbs and 1 oz (my grandmother was convinced my mother was carrying more than one baby). My mama was diabetic & they tend to have large babies. She had to be induced with the last. That child was getting bigger by the second!

    My boy was 8 lbs 6 0z.

    All vaginal deliveries.

    ReplyDelete
  71. My mama believed that larger babies were easier to deliver than smaller ones. She said they're stronger & help themselves out. I don't know how she came up that. *shrugs*

    ReplyDelete
  72. an 11 lb baby....Lord I feel sorry for the mother of that child. I would have prayed for heaven. lol

My first son was 7lbs 21 oz
and my 4mo old was 9 lbs 8oz

    ReplyDelete
  73. Damn near died with them both. No more babies for me!

    ReplyDelete
  74. That aint grown folk biz... thats preggers biz...

    *thinking*

    adoption
    foster care
neighbors kid for hour a week
    Miya, til she starts talking

or get a damn cat or dog...

    hmmm so many options...

    ReplyDelete
  75. We are a plethora of information!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I'm thinking I will just stay Auntie. Borrow my sugarlumps, and then send her back to Mommy!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  77. <~~~~never been pregnant...

*backing out of the room HORRIFIED*

    ReplyDelete
  78. Runnnnnnnnnnnnn dammit Runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

    lmao

    ReplyDelete
  79. 2 days?! I guess I should be thankful my lil 8 hour gig went so quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  80. ok...so I am just leavin my reg 2 wk appt...and I have LOST 3lbs in the past 2 wks...AND YET my fundus (uterus) is measuring at 36 weeks. WTF is goin on?! see? this only adds to my theory that this baby is killing me and trying to suck the life outta me! *walks away perplexed & befuddled*

    ReplyDelete
  81. oh yeah...and they are sending me for a sono asap to see what is REALLY goin on *straightface*

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

    ReplyDelete
  83. I have never know anyone to lose weight with an obviously growing fetus. *just as befuddled as you are*

    ReplyDelete
  84. It's perfectly normal to lose a little weight. I had the same thing happen with my third pregnancy. As long as baby's thriving, it should be ok. I was high risk due to kidney issues along with on and off high blood pressure as well. In total I gained only about fifteen pounds during that particular pregnancy. It was mostly baby weight, which is a good thing. And it was safer for me not to put on a lot of weight, or else my body would have stressed all the way out.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Red, TNP & Thoney - don't be scared...we just bullshitting....LOL

    NOT!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  86. Bullshitting.... MY ASS.... Like I said... tonight is the last night Im getting busy for a long time... thanks to you mofo's... Im gone curl up with a good book and a teddy bear every night for now on... cuz yall done fucked up my own mindset... and aint no babies coming out of this birth canal....

    chills, just thinking about it...

I need a surrogate mother... any takers...?

    ReplyDelete
  87. I have gained ZERO lbs the entire pregnancy. *lol* I lost 15 in the first 6 months...and have only gained back 3 of those...so I'm still in the red. FiGi must be greedy AND feeding off my fat, cuz I been eating like a cow...

    ReplyDelete
  88. Just be a babysitter! Mothers esp. single ones are always in need of good ones.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I lost 43 pounds throughout my pregnancy. My doctor said it was a normal change in metabolism. It didn't hurt me or the child any.

***reading all these labor horror stories, thanking Jesus, Mary and Joseph for general anesthesia***

    ReplyDelete
  90. Bingo! Just like me. I called my boy a parasite when I was carrying him. LOL Some things never change. He's still eating up all my food.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Wow! I went from 135 lbs to 180 lbs (the day I delivered) They even said I was gaining too much weight too fast. When I got hungry I had to eat. Felt like that boy was gumming my rib cage at times.

...damn shame I weigh more now than I did when I was 9 months preggo. *sigh*

    ReplyDelete
  92. I actually wanted my water to break in a dramatic fashion like all my favorite sitcoms...LOL, but I ended up being induced and they broke it after 18 hours of labor. I got my epidural after 1 cm so I was actually able to enjoy my labor...I know that sounds nuts, but I did! 4 pushes and my little girl was here, I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I could guarantee to have the same results.

    ReplyDelete
  93. That's the way I feel about my pregnancy. The physical aspects of my pregnancy were basically great. No problems. My hair grew long and thick (unheard of for me). My skin was beautiful, I lost weight, had a planned easy C-Section and got out of the hospital 2 days early because I was healing so quickly. It was all just beautiful. But some how I think if I had another baby it would be the pregnancy from hell cause I had it waaaay too easy the first time. Lightening doesn't strike twice in the same place.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I must be the exception to the rule because my pitocin levels must've been through the roof. When my water broke, my contractions started coming devilishly stronger and less than a minute apart.

I was making sounds that would put the green-vomiting Exorcist chick to shame!

    ReplyDelete
  95. Dass right! Tell her again!

    *running*

    ReplyDelete
  96. Yep. My aunt was also and her last son was almost 12 pounds. And, yes, she had him vaginally...no drugs.

Nuffin' but soldier womenz in my fam! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Yeah, be grateful. Although my babies were BORN quickly, my labor lasted for days.

With my son, I started contracting 4 days before he was born and I was already 3 centimeters dilated 3 days before he came. I just have a very high tolerance for pain, so by the time it got to the point I couldn't stand it anymore, we went to the hospital.

Hell, I drove myself to the hospital from work to deliver my son. However, I wouldn't recommend it. I dam near sent my coworker into cardiac a-frikk'n-rest!

    ReplyDelete
  98. "You ain't the only one", I mumble under my breath as I sit by the window patiently awaiting the Chinese dude to deliver my cheesesteak, fries, and lemonade/ice tea mix.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Maybe not. Not counting the 2 miscarriages, my pregnacies that survived were all the same. Not a care in the world. I GLOWED!

    ReplyDelete
  100. That's my fear as well....my pregnancy was fabulous and I was so cute, shoot I didn't even get the big "I'm pregnant" nose or nothing. It was way to easy!

    ReplyDelete
  101. ok...so somebody gonna explain WHY I'm measuring at 36 weeks and I'm only 30? That's why I mentioned the weight... Steady losing, but the baby is showing 6 whole weeks larger than she is? *dazed and confused*

    I won't panic until the sonogram...*kicks rocks*

    ReplyDelete
  102. Yup, since everybody has shared their horror stories, Imma share mine.

I went in for my 40 week checkup and MiniQueen wasn't moving, her heart was beating strong, just not doing the elevated increases or whatever, so they told me to go straight to the hospital. Well, me being me, knowing that my child was only in their sleep, went home, took a bath (cuz I had to be clean in those areas if I was about to give birth), eat (cuz I knew I wasn't eating for a loooooooong time) and get my then fiancee. So we go to the hospital and they were all frantic cuz it took me 4 hours to get there and i was like I don't know why ya'll tripping cuz she is sleep! LMBOO So anyways, they get me hooked up and stick some labor inducing pill in me. Well, after 24 hours that didn't work so then they slowly started the pitocin and labor just draaaaaaagged on. So they kicked it up a notch, nothing. Meanwhile, I had the urge to do the number 2 so I begged that nasty ass nurse I had to let me go to the bathroom. She tried to get me to go on a bed pan and I said NO, I wanna go to the bathroom! So I wobble into the bathroom, pushed out all of a pea sized turd. LOL

***SIDENOTE*** While planning my birth, I was living in Ga, and I purposely picked the whitest hospital on that side of the Mason-Dixie line! Reason being is that I have had nothing but good experiences with white nurses and almost always had a bad experience with black nurses unless of course they were working in a predominately white hospital. So anyways, I get stuck with the worse nurse EVERRRR, who also happened to be the only black nurse working in the hospital. Her bedside manner was AWFUL. Keep reading....

So labor is slowly moving but contractions are finally kicking in BIG TIME. Pitocin will make your contraction worse, which they did so I got the happy drug and everything was cool. Well, labor is still progressing very slowly. After 24 hours, I was only at 5 cm. Well the midwives are in a panic, so they come in and turn up the pitocin, labor starts progressing again, and then slowss way down. I was in labor so long that the happy drug wore off and I was too far to get another epidural. So I had to endure the worse part of labor, the last 2.5 hours of labor made worse by the pitocin. MiniQueen starts going into distress at this point and they were considering an emergency C-section and suddenly I made it to 9 cm and the midwife came and popped me to 10. I pushed her lil arse out in 17 minutes, I wasn't playing. I find out later that the nurse from hell purposely kept cutting off my pitocin to delay my birth so that she didn't have to do the work of having a new baby on the unit. Yup, I had the laziest nurse ever AND she just so happened to be black, which further pissed me off and validated my worse fears! LMBOOOO

    ReplyDelete
  103. Despite some of the horrific details (12 lb baby vaginally made my cooch hurt!), I definately look forward to being a mom. I still want a lot of drugs though. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  104. They don't serve crack in labor and delivery.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I guess I was just traumatized from the start. To THIS day, I still ain't had no dick that was worth all that. *shrugs*

Not the boy child per se, but all I suffered to get him here.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I give my 1st born to see 180 again! *you know I ain't kidding*

    ReplyDelete
  107. And I KNOW you are so serious. LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  108. I was looking forward to some "my water broke in checkout line or bank teller line or in a board meeting or at a 5 star restaurant or the subway turn-style or sitting on Big Mama's all white couch sans the plastic" stories. LMAO

    ReplyDelete
  109. Did we disappoint you? LMBOOO We are all sooooooo sowwy, maybe if you have another baby, you can see if you have that experience and then let us all know about it! LMBOOOO

I just realized *sticks foot in my mouth* how I may have come across in my posting. I am laying down watching TV and horror just fell over me. LMBOO I am not saying that all black nurses are bad, or that all white nurses are friendly, however, I for one try and go to the hospitals that the rich white people go to because for whatever reason there is a better quality of care. I try my best to stay out of public or county hospitals. And that was my ultimate goals.

So Mo, when you giving us that baby?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Cocaine is a hellava drug! LMAO

My son is old enough to vote, why on earth would I start over?! Naw sis, ain't gonna happen.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  112. My son was two weeks past his due date and still wasn't showing signs of wanting to come out. I had to be induced and they pierced the sack. It looked so funny to see the baby laying in my stomach without the fluid.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Yeah suuuuurrrreeee you are!!! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  114. ROFL

I often heard women claim they were not going to make noises, but when the pain hit they made sounds they did not realize would come out of them. ROFL

    ReplyDelete
  115. she pushed out a 12 pound baby vaginally?

    Dang!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  116. OMG!!!!! She has no business being a nurse!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  117. I don't know how they look, but I hear a dry birth is very difficult.

  120. In my first pregnancy, my water never broke. They used that long chopstick thingy to break it. That child was here less than an hour later.

2nd go round I was in the produce section at a local grocery store and almost had to call for clean up in aisle 9. I continued with my shopping because the kid and hubby needed some food because I knew I'd be out of commission for a few day. Once again, the kid arrived not too long after. My pregnancies are HELL, but the deliveries (although both natural like I was a slave) were pretty quick.
