5.4 Earthquake Rattles Saint Louis!!

http://www.kmov.com/justposted/stories//kmov_localnews_080418_quake.7604b4d3.html
I felt this & it scared the bejeezus outta me!

It was about 4 am, when I felt the earth move....and not it a good way! My bed was vibrating like somebody dropped 4 quarters in the slot & my other furniture was shaking too.

I closed my eyes and prayed. I didn't know what was happening. Tornado is what came to mind first. I was kinda paralyzed.

The last time I can remember something like happening I was in elementary school.

*exhaling and thank Him, that I'm able to send this message*

  1. My goodness!! I am glad you are ok. The thought of an earthquake scares the bejeezus outta me too. Tornadoes, hurricanes all that I can deal with but THE EARTH IS NOT SUPPOSED TO MOVE!

  2. *BIG HUG* I would have been scared too!

  3. People are suprised that an earthquake can happen in Illinois. We do have a fault line here so when the plates shift, the ground WILL move...

I slept like a baby though...but the cat was acting strange a few hours prior the reported quake.

  4. Girl, I woke up and my dresser was shaking! I thought I was either dreaming or going crazy!

  5. *HUGZ* They said on the news that at the Channel 4 news center (31st Southwest Tfwy) cups of water were shaking, etc. It was remarkably wide spread they said. WTH is going on when our tornado zone starts getting EARTHQUAKES?!

But again, I'm thankful you were able to send this too!

  6. The news guy said his two dogs kept running in circles in the house. Amazing how animals have been given the instinct to detect those things.

  7. Sabrina is quite a young cat, so she's already hyper as it is. But when I walked out the room to go pee, she was literally leaping off the friggin walls. I'm like, what da hey wrong with you, because she scared me that much! LOL

  8. I wasn't sure I was awake either. It was such a weird feeling. My sister felt it to, but her 4 kids slept like rocks & 2 of them were sleeping on the floor!

  9. I thought one of my kids was shaking the bed til I heard the wall crack/crunch. Then I thought it was possible that someone had run into the building (we're immediately next to the street)

  10. At first I was thinking tornado & that's when I couldn't move. I just prayed that my house stayed put & no harm came our way.

You know where my house sits & I always worry about someone plowing into my property.

  11. I heard birds and knew it wasn't a tornado. That's one thing that scares me about tornadoes, when the birds hit the highway, you know it's about to get jiggy.

Yeah, my sis tried to get me to take her car when I was there the last time, I thought UH UH, let someone bust a U and hit it. I'd NEVER hear the end of it!

  12. You need to make sure that the structural integrity of the building was not compromised... all that cracking and crunching is not a good sense.

  15. ...and to think I wanna make a trip there!

  16. You still can. A 5.2 on the Richter Scale rarely if ever happens in Illinois. The worst quake ever in Illinois was only a 5.3 in 1968. Yeah there were many smaller quakes where I stayed, but this one actually woke me up. I knew this had to be newsworthy!

  17. Oh my goodness. I'm glad that everyone is alright.

  18. Do you know that it was felt as far as down here in Alabama? Several places in North Alabama reported feeling it ...even as close as Tuscaloosa which is 45 mins away from me. No wonder the cat was acting a fool! Some people were so nonchalant about it on the news. I don't care if it "doesn't happen often", This ain't right!

  19. I just talked to my uncle, who is wheelchair bound. He said he thought the Al-Qaeda had come for his ass! Thank God that was NOT the case.

  20. Am I wrong for laughing at that? LMAO

  21. Not at all. I laughed too! He's the family comedian and is always trying to get a laugh.

  22. That's the truth. During and after our tornado a couple weeks ago I noticed there was not a bird in sight. That's an eerie thing.

  23. Always pay attention to the animals. Especially dogs.

  24. I know! I wanna know where the heck they go!

  25. I wanna know where they go too. That's what I was trying to figure out right after the tornado. They got the heck outta dodge but to where??
