Is Beauty Really Her Name?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder & the eyes are the windows to the soul. Webster's defines beauty as: Click here I've noticed a lot of women {and even some men} are under the false assumption that lighter skin, hair weaves, colored-contacts lenses, false eyelashes, excessive make-up, designer clothing/accessories & bling-bling defines beauty. How can it be when you wouldn't be caught dead without your "face" on, let alone empty the garbage? While there is nothing wrong with the aforementioned enhancements, but if that's how you define/see beauty, {IMHO} you are wrong. There is vanity in us all, plain & simple. If there wasn't, the beauty salons, make-up manufacturers, plastic & weight loss surgeons, tanning salons, etc., wouldn't be the successful entities they are today. Now, before you think I'm just hating & blasting on those who utilize the above, I'm not. Keep in mind, I used wear {clear} contact lenses, {Lasik is the bomb and pure vanity}. I also use make-up on occasion & sport designer clothing/handbags. However, that's not how I define beauty & certainly don't think other women are envious of me because of these things. In this day & age, anyone who so desires, can enhance their outer appearance. If you happen to have a lil more loot and/or better group health benefits than the Average Joe, you can become whomever in the sam hell you choose to be. Be it lenses by Bausch & Lomb, Lasik by Crown Optical (they are fantastic!), make-up by M.A.C, lashes from KimSoo (local beauty supply house) jeans by Baby Phat or a lil nip/tuck by Dr. Soyouwannabeslim or Dr. Nowyoureallyfine. The bottom line is - if you think a person of substance (notice the term "substance") would be jealous/envious of you because of said temporary enhancements, you're sadly mistaken. Remember the old adage - Beauty may only be skin deep, but ugly is to the bone! As always, feel free to comment.
I know about 10 folks who have had the Lasik eye surgery with excellent results. It damn sure beats wearing contacts, SPENDING money on contacts, glasses, etc...I'm thinking of having it done myself.
ReplyDeleteDo whatcha gotta do.
I have never been a follower of the "typical standard of beauty". I'm more of the "If it takes you two hours and $2000 to feel beautiful then you must not be very attractive" mindset, but that may just be my cynical anti-status quo nature LOL
ReplyDeleteI was sick of spending $700-$800 a year on glasses (cause you know I "needed" new ones) & contacts every year. Best few thousand I ever spent! If you can afford it, go for it!
ReplyDeleteMy medical plan doesn't cover "nip/tuck" so I enhanced what I could afford! *haha*
Cuzzin! That's what I like about you.
ReplyDeleteVery well stated!
ReplyDeleteWell, for me I tend to think people are most beautiful when they are in their natural states... However, some things can help to enhance that beauty... but not always necessary.. I've never felt comfortable wearing make up and all that stuff... most folks say I have a natural beauty... *smiles* I tend to agree,,, but you should do what makes you feel good,,, not what the world thinks looks good... My sis is an aspiring beautician... lawd I hope she gets outta school one of these days...lol ... But when she feels the need to try something out, Im usually the one that will allow her to do so... But, I've found that wearing the fake lashes and all that caked on make up doesnt work for me... I think if I ever do anything major, cosmetically, it would probably be a breast reduction... And thats not for the acceptance of other people... definitely would help cure my back and neck problems but I love being active and doing things, and the load they carry can be somewhat burdensome... But otherwise I think Im good... and I think most other folks look good naturally...
ReplyDeleteIn your shoes, I would also consider it. My God-daughter had to have a reduction & she's only 17. Normal, active, in-shape teen, but just had too much up top. She's happier & her breasts now fit her body.
ReplyDeleteI'm also very busty, but I don't have any issues {crossing fingers}. I really want a lift (for vanity purposes, like wearing halters & strapless attire). I think if I lost weight naturally, that would help. I don't want my breast looking like deflated balloons (yep! that's the vanity speaking once again).
You shole is silly!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteBut you are right. Most beauty has had some help. You can go au naturel if you choose and there's inherent beauty in that. But if we're honest with ourselves we do much to help out our cause more than we realize.
You have to say "Dr. Soyouwannabeslim or Dr. Nowyoureallyfine" really fast! LMAO
ReplyDeleteI did! lmaooooo
ReplyDeleteHell, I think that Dark is sexy. DARK AND LOVELY FOR ME!!! Don't think I won't go to the other side on occasion, tho.
ReplyDeleteNothing fake for me.
ReplyDeleteThought you knew! *blushing*
ReplyDeleteI thought you liked the fake boobies... lol
ReplyDeleteI'd rather have a pair of real negative A cups than fake D cups anyday.
ReplyDeleteI think I would turn both of those down LOL. but I agree, not a fan of the fake breastesses
