I enjoy traveling with my homies and I still hope to have my own personal snuggle bunny to travel the world with, but since my homies irk my nerves at times & I have yet find a snuggle bunny who can whisk me off at a moments notice. I'm thinking about vacationing solo - no family, no friends, no kids, no man - just me, myself & I.
- No waking up early & following itineraries - my cousin Gina is notorious for this.
- No not wanting to shop till you drop - KitKat just can't hang with the big dawgs.
- No chauffeuring the other travelers because they can't drive - my aunt is the exception as she has no business behind the wheel.
- No wanting to party non-stop each night - my idea of vacation is doing things I can't do at home, like lounge on the beach all day. I can club every nite at home if I wanted to.
I think I might try a solo vacation....for my own sanity.
Have you ever vacationed alone? Tell me about it.
wow, you go girl...never vacationed aloned...don't think it would be much fun for me...but I feel ya on all of the above...why go on vacation just to stay in the hotel, eat the same foods you can get at home, or not just want to venture out!!!
ReplyDeleteI never have. I really don't want to but I know life is gonna pass me by if I keep waiting for a "road dawg." PLUS, I always think of how unsafe it is for women to travel alone.
ReplyDeleteSorry if I'm such a killjoy, but I can't bring myself to roll solo.
I haven't, but I would in second. I love to travel, and I think that as long as you are staying in country, as long as people know where you are, and as long as you think smart... it would be nothing but relaxing.. although I would probably get a little lonely after a while.
ReplyDeleteI drove from Florida to upstate New York this year with my 3 and 4 year olds, by myself. Now THAT was stupid. Too much driving for just myself and anytime someone needed a potty etc., we all had to get out.
I have not yet, but it's something I've toyed with doing. Same reasons as you. Don't have to worry about what others want, can do what I want when I want.
ReplyDeleteYou aren't a killjoy (this time! LOL). Safety is definitely a concern which is why we usually roll 4 deep...safety in numbers.
ReplyDeleteI thought about that too. I would definitely stay in the states & a hotel in the busy part of town like the Vegas strip or Times Square. I could have a little excitement without venturing too far alone.
ReplyDeleteI am a loner, I am adventurous AAAAND I have broke ass friends and family... LOL!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I travel often with friends, I have taken many vacations alone. Most memorable:
I drove from Dallas to Atlanta round trip by myself, blasting music on my iPod and exploring lots of small southern cities. It was a BLAST!
I flew to Los Angeles, explored the city for a couple of days then cruised from Long Beach to San Diego, Catalina Island and Baja Mexico. (In my opinion a Cruise is a great and safe way to travel alone.)
I also went to Veracruz, Cozumel and Cancun, Mexico all by my dayum self.
Life is too short to sit around waiting for other folks...
Damn Shon! That's what I'm talking about! I told my friends last year to apply for their passports. Only one did it. It took 16 weeks but I got it & I'm ready to go!
ReplyDeleteOh & driving ain't for ya girl...St.Louis to Kansas City is my limit behind the wheel alone.
ReplyDeletei went to mexico on a cruise. it was wonderful. I TRAVELED solo.
ReplyDeleteI admittedly do not travel very much at all. I'd prefer to take a whole week or two off and spend it at home doing all those things I never get to do cause i'm too busy working.
ReplyDeleteHowever, every year our club goes to Myrtle Beach... and I know two of those years I had folk looking for me high and low because I'd got missing and started working on my own agenda. i'm good for that.
ON my last cruise [hell, my ONLY cruise] I was surprised at how many folks were on there solo. At our table in the dining room, there were at least 4 people who were cruising SOLO...one of which was a drunkass Jody Foster-lookalike who kept throwing herself at the other 3 single dudes at our table. My girl and I just sat back and checked it out and cracked up....thats ANOTHER story along with me drinking up somebody's wine like it was mine - YES, I DID, SO WHAT CHICKEN BUTT.
ReplyDeleteI haven't really done it cause it just seems like more fun with folks but it can also be FREEing in a sense doing exactly whatever YOU wanna do and not having to compromise on your itinerary.
LMAO at Texass saying she got BROKEASS FAMILY AND FRIENDS....I'M TELLING!!!
lol
I promised myself I'd do that this year for painting, etc.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be cool. I would stay in busy area like you said that was close to stuff that I could do for fun.. I would also let several trusted people know where I was going and staying; all pertinent info. Then I would just take a few days to just wonder around and enjoy where I was. I would do a short cruise solo. (3 or 4 days)
ReplyDeleteI think I wanna cruise solo the week of my birthday....yeaaaahhhh....lemme look into that.
ReplyDeleteI'm going with ya! =)
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to vacation alone for the same reasons you gave. Like Texass, I have broke ass friends and family. I'm thinking of taking a BLACK singles cruise alone so I can get my grown and sexy on.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like I'd do better meeting up with some of y'all vs. fooling around with my local peeps.
ReplyDeleteI rarely travel alone since my two are still kinda young, but if I do, I usually know at least one person at my destination that I can hang with if I want.
ReplyDeleteJust don't go too far! I just heard about some pirates, yes pirates, highjacking & kidnapping some folks off of a ship!! Ain't that a bitch?!?!
ReplyDeleteWTF?
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo...if y'all get a cruise together, count me in!!!! I've never been on one!
