When my daddy died, my mother never remarried. Albeit, she did have a long-term boyfriend, common-law husband or whatever you wish to call him. He was a true father figure to me & my sister.
I never asked her why she didn't marry Bill. I guess in my heart I didn't want her to. In my young mind that meant she would totally forget about my daddy. Now that I'm grown & have been thru some things of my own, I know that's not the case.
Check the poll & feel free to post a reply as well.
I think I would wait at least a year to let things calm down so I would know I'm not just rebounding after the terrible pain of losing a loved one.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I think I'd wait a year, but then again...if it's real, then a yr might end up being too long...Life proves to us everyday that nothing is guaranteed or promised except birth and death.
ReplyDeleteI would probably give it a year at the earliest.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's hard to say. I am sure it would be well over a year for sure. Children make it harder to move on because I believe you have to be sensitive to their feelings as well. Personally, even though my mom is 72 and her and my dad were married 44 years and I know she is lonely and would like another companion, every time she even mentions some old geezer she's seen around I look at her cross-eyed...lol!!
ReplyDeleteI think it truly depends on each person, but I voted 1 year. Give a person time to mourn, heal, and then go from there.
